Sustainability

Sustainability is very important to me. I strive to make sustainable choices whenever possible.

T-shirts

I embroider on Comfort Colors t-shirts. They are made with OEKO-TEX certified low-impact dyes and meet OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Made With Respect Proud member of the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol. Made by a mill partnered with Fair Labor Association in a facility that is WRAP certified.

Paper Products

I use shipping labels and business cards from ECOENCLOSE. They are made from 100% post-consumer waste. Business cards are also certified sustainably sourced, Green-e Certified/Green Seal Certified, Processed Chlorine Free, and are recyclable, naturally biodegradable, and compostable.

Mailers

I went down a rabbit hole researching sustainable mailers.

I first looked into compostable/biodegradable mailers but TL;DR: it's not as sustainable or as practical as you'd think (source).

Next I started looking into paper mailers and even received some samples to test out. I found that even water-resistant paper mailers didn't hold up when sitting in water for extended periods. I would never want a customer to receive a soaked/stained piece from their package getting wet on their front step. As I researched more about paper mailers, I found they have a higher carbon footprint than poly mailers (source).

I decided that 100% recycled poly mailers were the best option. They are lightweight and flexible, so they take up less space when shipped. They are also moisture, tear, and tamper-resistant.

I use poly mailers from ECOENCLOSE for orders of less than 5 shirts. They are made in the USA and made of 100% recycled materials - of which 50% is post-consumer waste that has been diverted from landfills. They are recyclable via source-separated thin-film streams at store drop-off locations. The mailers are even reusable and feature a second tear and seal strip. So save your mailer for the next time you need to send a package!
